In this assignment, you are tasked with writing a 2 page (12 point font, double spaced with in-text citations) essay on the earth’s carrying capacity. You may choose between two essay options:
Option 1: Write an essay about the earth’s carrying capacity comparing the historical perspectives provided by Hardin (1968) to more recent articles on the issue by Peters, et. a. (2016) and O’Neill, et. al. (2018). In writing your essay, be sure to talk about the big messages presented by each article and the implications. You needn’t understand the methods in the modern articles to do this essay! You will be graded on your ability to concisely summarize the articles provided and compare the historical emphasis versus the current emphasis. In a final paragraph, discuss where you think we, humanity, are going from here.
