How to respond to each section of the plan:

These are 5 beliefs, assumptions or philosophies, e.g. “Students are responsible for their own behaviour”, that underpin your classroom management practice. Keep these as succinct as possible.
The Behaviour Support Plan (800 words)
• Develop a classroom management support plan that is founded on your key principles. This plan must have 3 different levels to it: 1. preventative, 2. low level and 3. high level intervention. There needs to be strong alignment between the principles and your outlined plan.
• The preventative level is those things that you do to prevent behavioural issues from occurring
• Low-level interventions are those things you do to address low level behavioural issues e.g. calling out, disrupting class etc. Things that may disrupt the flow of your teaching.
• High level interventions are those supports you put in place to address more disruptive, aggressive unsafe behaviours or behaviours which occur at a very intense or extreme level.
• Models/ Theories/ Strategies: This is the first column of the management support plan. In this column, choose relevant models/theories/strategies that fit well with your identified principles. Identify throughout your plan key theorists or theories or models or approaches or strategies from the literature that inform what you believe your principles align well with. Reference explicitly.
Implementation: This is the second column of your management support plan. Provide details of how you plan to effectively implement the ideas eg. How you will introduce/establish, teach explicit skills, model and reinforce the models/theories/strategies. Practical implementation is an important aspect of the plan and in this section you need to demonstrate how the ideas would be implemented specifically. Give examples and describe what someone would expect to see happening in the classroom if they were observing.
Justification of chosen models/theories/strategies: (1200 words) Outline how the models/ theories/strategies you have chosen connect to your principles. You need to ensure that you demonstrate wide reading of the literature in this section using at minimum 5 relevant references.
Critical reflection:
• Critical reflection is an important aspect of this assignment and of the criteria sheet. Use the “Questions to Consider” section below to help you complete this aspect of the task. In your critical reflection you need to demonstrate personal growth – how has your reading impacted on what you have done/may do in the classroom? What areas of behaviour management might you struggle with and how might you overcome this? What strategies might you use to support your ability to implement effective behaviour management in the classroom. Critical reflection is in addition to the word limit for assignment 2 plan but should not exceed 750 words.

• What might be measures of success or indications that the strategy needs to be reviewed?
• Have I clearly described what is being implemented e.g. What it would look or sound like in the classroom?
• Have I given examples of what the class teacher would say or do?
Justification of models/theories/strategies:
• Have I clearly outlined why I have chosen the models etc that I have?
• Have I made explicit links between my choice of models etc and my principles?
• Have I made explicit links between my choice of models etc and the literature?
Critical Reflection:
• How might this plan influence the social and emotional needs of the students?
• How are the issues in this scenario reflected in your own teaching? In relation to the issues discussed what do you need to work on or improve in your own teaching practice?
• If you have had no practical teaching experience yet, what do you think may be an issue for you given your personality and life experiences?
• How have your beliefs about teaching, learning and behaviour management been supported or changed as a result of your learning so far in this unit?
