• Based on your study of the chapter, answer the following simple questions:
o How do you see the IT infrastructure evolution? Does Mobile and Cloud computing affect Moore’s Law or the Law of Mass Digital Storage?
o The book talks about cloud computing. It divides cloud computing into 3 types. Come up with 5 examples for each type of service. Give the name of the product or the company that offers the service and a short description what the service is all about and the advantage it will give you when you use this service.

o Identify the computer platforms that show the computers and system software (e.g., operating system) that will be used in the company.

Databases and Business Intelligence
• Based on your study of the chapter, answer the following simple questions:
o What is the difference between a database and a data warehouse?
o How does a database support business intelligence?
o What is an OODBMS? What is the advantage and disadvantage over RDBMS?

o Develop the network (LAN, WAN, wireless) that will interconnect the computers with very rough costs.
o Smart is the trend of today, can you come up with an idea to make this part smart?
o Would you use cloud computing? Why or why not?
• For the Company in Exhibit1, develop a security management plan that will secure the company assets (technical such as servers plus physical such as buildings).
• For the Company in Exhibit1:
o An IT architecture diagram should include Internet and web technologies, the computers, the databases, and the applications (where do they reside and how they are interconnected). This diagram should put all the pieces together and show how they are interconnected and accessed.
o Create the TCO for the architecture, try to be as complete as possible, state your predictions with information you got from the internet.
Optional: Developing a Simple Website and a Simple Database for the Company shown in Exhibit1
Note: This is primarily intended for students with insufficient background in IT.
