Literature Review Elements
For Addressing Literature Review and Research Question Section of Article Critique
Elements of Article Literature Review:
1. Introduction This section introduces the reader to the topic or problem. It can often describe the
problem, when and how it occurs and why it is of concern to the reader.
2. Key Points/Definitions
As you begin to examine the literature, look for patterns and results of studies that agree, or disagree. Look for patterns in the way researchers use
terms and the kinds of problems they have in defining variables or
analyzing data.
Look for key terms and how researchers define certain subjects.
Often there are professional disagreements about how to define or measure certain concepts or terms. At times researchers disagree about the best
theory or explanation of certain phenomenon. Is there any of this?
