Events and celebrations are a feature of all societies. They define our lives, culture and community while also delivering a range of social, economic and environmental outcomes. This unit develops students’ knowledge and skills in the design, planning, organisation and operation of events. It examines the use of a range of management processes in the events industry including project management; operations and logistics; risk management; financial management; human resources; and strategic marketing. The unit also examines the factors that enable events to be environmentally sustainable. This unit is practical and emphasises the skills and expertise needed by event managers through a focus on ‘hands on’ learning.
