Williams College does not have a formal policy for academic dishonesty and typically defers the disciplinary action to the professor, upon approval of the professor’s recommendation to the Vice President of Student Affairs. Professor Smith recommends suspending the two student for one academic semester, effective immediately. Since Professor Smith saw the students cheating with own eyes, she believes the students do not have a right to due process in this case. While a formal policy is not in place, professors are requested to obtain permission from the Vice President of Student Affairs concerning disciplinary action recommendation prior to issuing notification of the action to the students.
