2. Go to https://www.nysenate.gov/how-bill-becomes-law-1 and read the policy making process in New York State.
3. Go to http://council.nyc.gov/html/committees/legislative.shtml to understand the legislatvie process in New York City.
4. Read the pdf that is in this folder, “Legislation Details (with Text)_INT261-A.pdf”. This is a bill that has been passed by the NYC Council. Your assignment is to make a summary of this bill. You can also go to: “legistar.council.nyc.ov/legislation.aspx” and type in “INT 0261-2014” on the Search bar to get the details of this legislation.
5. You have to write a brief summary – details of what you have to write is in “Assignment 2 – Summary of INT 0261-2014”. This legislation prohibits employer discrimination based on consumer credit history. After reading the slides, visiting the two websites, and the summary document of INT 0261-2014, write a brief summary about it. While writing the summary, discuss the following: 1. provide a brief description of the problem that is being addressed by this bill. 2. the sponsor(s) of the bill, and how many co-sponsors. 3. provide a brief history and the committee assignments in its way to reaching the full house 4. lastly, briefly describe what is the expected action or the prognosis of the bill; and why that may be the expected result.
